Bangladesh is a small country but has a huge population. Most people here live below the poverty line and cannot, therefore, afford to educate their children. Many poor children drop out of school after just a few years or simply do not go to school at all. Despite this situation, we have far too many students to educate compared to the number of the institution available. Bangladesh needs more schools, colleges, and universities to provide for the increasing number of students.

After help, we can use object + infinitive (with or without to).

Help can also be followed directly by an infinitive without an object.

If you say that you cannot/can’t help doing something (especially in British English), you mean that you can’t stop yourself, even if you don’t want to do it.

| Excuse me – I couldn’t help overhearing what you said. | |
| Sorry I broke the cup – I couldn’t help it. |
Can’t help can be followed by but + infinitive (without to), with the same meaning as can’t help verb + ing. This is common in American English.
